Il Divo, Simon Cowell's (yes, that Pop/American Idol judge) pop-opera quartet -- and a personal favorite of mine -- debuted at No. 4 in the Billboard 200 albums chart, selling more than 146,000 copies of their self-titled first album in its first week of release in the US. The said feat also made history of sorts, as their album achieved the highest US chart entry (in SoundScan era) for a debut album from a UK-signed act. (read the full story here)
Il Divo also became No. 1 in the UK, where it was first released in 2004. I now wonder if, give these string of sucesses, there'll be even a slim chance for the Divos to perform here.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
